Georgia's fee schedule adds a $10 service charge to every business filing. The online column carries it too. Two other state sources still disagree with it. georgia.gov tells founders the online fee is $100, and the Secretary of State's own LLC filing procedure puts it at $105. The fee schedule is the newest of the three and it is the one the checkout uses, so budget $110 to form and $60 for the annual registration.

Georgia follows the federal default tax classification. A single member LLC is taxed as a sole proprietorship. A multi member LLC is taxed as a partnership. You file nothing extra with the state unless you want S corp or C corp treatment.

On privacy, Georgia asks for less than most guides claim. No filing wants a member's name. Neither the articles of organization nor the annual registration has a field for one. What the state does collect at formation is the organizer's name and address, the registered office and its agent, and a mailing address for the principal place of business.

Two of those three are worth acting on. An organizer does not have to be a member, so a formation service signing in that slot keeps your name off the record. 1. Get your EIN from the IRS. It is free and it is same day. You need it to open a bank account, hire staff, and file taxes. Apply at IRS.gov and the number comes back at once.
2. Register with the Georgia Department of Revenue. This applies if you sell taxable goods or services. You open a sales tax account. The base state rate is 4% and local taxes push it higher in most counties.
3. Get a local occupational tax certificate. Georgia issues no statewide business license. Your city or county wants this instead. Fees and paperwork vary by jurisdiction.
4. File your annual registration between January 1 and April 1. The first one is due the year after you form. It costs $60. Filed online, it clears at once. Miss it by 60 days and the state can start dissolving your LLC, and getting it back costs $260 plus every registration you skipped.
5. Skip the BOI report. FinCEN exempted every company formed in the United States in March 2025. A final rule made that permanent on August 14, 2026. A domestic Georgia LLC files nothing. Only companies formed abroad still report. A letter asking for a fee to file one is a scam, and FinCEN says so.

• Name reservation is not free - Holding your name for 30 days costs $35. The name search is the free part. Founders who assume the hold works the same way get caught by this one.
• Bringing an out of state LLC in costs more than double - A certificate of authority runs $235. A domestic filing is $110. That is $125 extra for the same trading rights.
